James Neil Bell Appointed to Serve as Executive Director of the

Maryland Commission on Civil Rights

 

The Maryland Commission on Civil Rights is pleased to announce that James Neil Bell has been appointed Executive Director by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley. Mr. Bell has been with the Commission for the past 35 years; he joined as an Investigator in 1976, and most recently served as the Interim Executive Director after serving 11 years as Deputy Director.

 

In this role, Mr. Bell will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all administrative and programmatic activities of the Commission, working with the nine-member Board of Commissioners, and for fostering positive community relations throughout Maryland. He will also investigate and administratively process complaints alleging discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations, leasing of commercial property, health services and services regulated by the State Department of Labor and Licensing.
