Educating the public on civil rights and responsibilities under the law by:
Planning and hosting MCCR’s special events and training
Developing and promoting educational materials and resources, for businesses, local government, community organizations, and the citizens of Maryland
Fostering relationships with other civil/human rights and diversity organizations, as well as identifying the needs of underserved populations
Facilitating public dialogue and reducing conflict related to equity and human rights issues
Connecting people across their differences to promote and improve civil rights in Maryland

Learn about protected classes under Maryland law and strategies for preventing discrimination in employment, housing, health services, public accommodations and commercial contracts.
E&O's Impact Across the State
Through a comprehensive suite of programs, events and partnerships, MCCR's Education and Outreach Unit (E&O) empowers individuals, organizations, and communities. Last year, E&O facilitated:
- 104 virtual events & trainings, including Fair Housing Month events
- 96 in person events & training, including a symposium on Protecting Civil Rights During Challenging Times and quarterly, two-day, train-the-trainer courses in Sexual Harassment Prevention in the Workplaces
- 22 new community partnerships with local governments, nonprofit organizations, advocacy groups, and community leaders across the State of Maryland
